Noland Road Improvements
Lenexa, Kansas

Wilson & Company completed the final construction plans for the improvements to Noland Road from 95th Street to Santa Fe Trail Drive. This project was broken into two construction phases.

Phase I (Noland Road from 95th Street to Walnut Street) - Wilson & Company prepared plans for the improvement of the residential collector portion of the largest street improvement project funded solely by city-at-large funds for the City of Lenexa. The proposed improvements included widening the existing street to 28-feet wide (back-of-curb to back-of-curb), addition of concrete curb and gutter, underground storm sewers, street lights, replacement of sidewalks, and improved horizontal and vertical alignment.

Phase II (Intersection Improvements) - Construction was completed in the fall of 1996 for the intersection improvements at 95th Street and Santa Fe Trail Drive. These intersections received federal funds administed by the Kansas Department of Transportion and Mid-America Regional Council through the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) portion of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA). The proposed improvements include widening 95th from four-lanes to five lanes to provide a left-turn lane. Noland Road on the north leg of the intersection will also be widened to provide a left-turn lane. The existing traffic signals are also proposed to be modified. The proposed improvements at the Santa Fe Trail Drive intersection required the installation of new traffic signals and the realignment of Santa Fe Trail Drive. The proposed traffic signals will be coordinated with existing Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad crossing signals located approximately 60 feet south of the intersection on Noland Road.
