Locomotive Repair Facility
Commerce, California

The repair facility is a 100- by 300-foot facility for heavy locomotive maintenance operated by General Motors, ElectroMotive Division. The facility includes two run-through tracks with elevated platforms. Each through track is equipped with a drop table. A dead-end track with a 15-ton crane is provided for heavy maintenance.

All lubricants, water and compressed air required for maintenance activities are provided from reels mounted on the platforms. All wastewater and oils drained from locomotives are collected in the lower level of the facility and pumped to the industrial wastewater treatment facility or the tank farm.
