National City Rail, Automotive Transfer
Port of San Diego, California

Hanson-Wilson Inc. provided engineering, surveying, permitting, construction management, coordination, and closeout for this Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF) facility located at the Port of San Diego, National City, CA.

This project involved the construction of a one-mile loop track, six unloading tracks, and locomotive storage tracks, including a direct to locomotive (FTL) fueling facility. The work also included four grade crossings, drainage improvements, utility relocations, demolition, asphalt paving, concrete containment loading areas, compressed air, and other miscellaneous construction. The project required close coordination with the Port of San Diego who participated in the contaminated soil clean up (added as a change order). The street and drainage improvements were closely coordinated with the National City Engineering Department.
