David became part of the Albuquerque Survey Dept in summer 2001 as a Rodman.  As a student at New Mexico State University he worked summer and winter breaks until graduation in 2007. After earning his Bachelors Degree in Surveying Engineering from NMSU, he was recruited by Wilson & Company as a full time employee.

Throughout his career as a survey technician, he has earned his LSIT certification and is currently working on becoming a Professional Surveyor in the state of New Mexico.

Outside the office, David spends time with his wife Adrienne and three kids (Andrew 6, Diego 2 and Bella 6 months.)  He enjoys photography, making music and traveling with his family as much as possible.

His favorite part about working at Wilson & Company is being able to participate in a wide variety of Surveys.

Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Santa Teresa Facility

The UPRR is constructing a new rail facility, Santa Teresa, just outside Santa Teresa, NM. This new rail yard will consist of a run-through fueling facility, intermodal yard and block swap yard. The estimated construction costs are approximately $400 million for this 11.5 mile long, 0.8 mile wide, 2,200 acre facility, which began construction in June of 2011.

Other project highlights include: 44 miles of track, 16.6 miles of county roads, 115,144 tons of asphalt, 212,000 tons of concrete, 23 buildings/structures including 2 LEED silver certified office buildings, 6 locomotive fueling islands, an inspection pit, 8 automated gate lanes, and 1,166 intermodal parking spaces. In all, there will be over 5.8 million cubic yards of soil moved to construct this project.

Wilson & Company serves as the prime consultant responsible for all engineering services including design, permitting and construction inspection.

Once completed, this facility will increase UPRR’s operational efficiency throughout the southwest. Scheduled completion is March 2014.
