3 New Associate Vice Presidents Announced at Wilson & Company

Key Staff Promotions Announced

Scott Asher, PE, Derek Meier, PE, and Chris Perea, PE, have been named Associate Vice Presidents at Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects.
Scott has 20 years’ experience in planning, design, and construction of major transportation improvements for public sector clients. Since joining the company in 2011, his expertise in geometric roadway design, lighting design, and overall project management have been a great addition to our team. Scott is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), currently serving as Region 7 Governor, having formerly served as the Treasurer, Vice President, and President of the Southern Colorado Branch. Scott also serves on the  American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Southern Colorado Steering Committee and the ACEC Colorado Legislative Committee. He has also been active with the Colorado Springs Chamber and Economic Development Corporation (EDC) over the years to support infrastructure initiatives and legislation. He has a bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

Derek is Wilson & Company’s New Mexico Transportation Operations Manager with 22 years’ experience, all with the firm.  Derek has been an active member in the engineering community and has prepared numerous designs for the NMDOT, the City of Albuquerque, the City of Rio Rancho, and various municipalities/pueblos in New Mexico.  His projects have varied from rural two-lane highway widening to full interstate reconstruction. Derek’s experience in civil engineering includes roadway widening/realignment, grading and drainage design, erosion control methods, utility design and coordination, corridor studies, traffic engineering, plan preparation, and cost estimating.  He also has extensive experience in providing construction-related services. He has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico.

Since joining the Company in 1993, Chris has shown a willingness and ability to take on any role necessary to deliver success. His responsibilities have included design and management of all phases of construction projects, reviewing plans and specifications, field supervision of project inspection crews, contractor coordination, and tracking project quantities for payment. He has experience in grading and drainage design, recreational trails design, utility design and construction, street design, corridor studies, right of way mapping and acquisition, cost estimates, and traffic engineering. He has both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University.
