Mark Phillippy, PE, LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE, has joined Wilson & Company’s Houston office, bringing with him nearly 20 years of experience with large scale commercial mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) projects.
“We are very excited to have Mark on our team. His unique expertise and experience provides instant value to our group.” said Brandon Hensley, MEP Regional Manager.
Mark is disciplined and intentional with his projects from initial concept design, to finshed construction. His project experience includes industrial and commercial electrical equipment design such as low, medium, and high power distribution, Digital Fault Recorders, relays (electronic and electro-mechanical), batteries, chargers, and inverters.
A signature project Mark has worked on was the Millennium II Tower and NOV tenant build out. This tower was originally designed to be a 20 story office building for a single tenant. After the construction documents were permitted and the building was being constructed the owner wanted to add two more stories onto the building. The load analysis had to be verified and many unique but legal NEC diversities had to be considered so that the electrical service was sufficient to support the additional load of the building for the amendment to the original permit. The building passed permit, construction completed, and has been fully occupied since 2016.
Mark has experience creating coordination studies for electrical systems and creating electronic protective relay settings and test reports. He is efficient in the use of SKM Power Tools for modeling electrical systems, and has knowledge of Captor/Dapper and Arc Flash. Mark is also proficient with Revit, AUTOCAD, and AmpCalc.
“In a very short amount of time, Mark has brought a lot of electrical expertise to our MEP team,” said Mark Wentzel, Vertical MEP Operations Manager.
Mark has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University and a master’s in business administration from University of Phoenix-Dallas. He is a professional engineer in Texas, Arizona, New York, Arkansas, Louisianna, and California, and is a LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE. He is a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, hunting, fishing (sometimes catching), remodeling, and spending time with his family. On his last trip to Hawaii, he was SCUBA diving on a 300 foot vertical wall being circled by reef sharks and one hammerhead, while listening to a humpback whale singing in the background.
