Belen Consolidated School District - Belen, NM

Wilson & Company completed three successful HVAC renovation projects for the Belen Consolidated School District: La Merced Elementary School, Gil Sanchez Elementary School, and Belen High School.

All of the projects involved extensive HVAC system replacements, including a new central plant and distribution (Belen HS) and high efficiency, variable refrigerant flow unitary systems (La Merced Elementary).

All projects were completed simultaneously and ahead of schedule, despite only having three months of summer off - hours work to see the projects to fruition. All projects also completed within budget, with a total construction cost of approximately $1,500,000.

Belen High School HVAC Renovations
This project involved completely removing the existing mechanical systems and replacing these with high efficiency central air handlers, new direct digital controls and adding an air-cooled chiller to the facility. The existing areas were uncomfortable year-round and many of the units serving the facility were compromised as a result of old age and dilapidated equipment. Areas of renovation include the main gymnasium, locker rooms, restrooms, the mini-gymnasium and wrestling gymnasium. The electrical design included providing a new service into the scope area as well as distribution of circuits required by new HVAC equipment. The scope also included providing new evaporative air conditioning and heating upgrades to the special education classroom wing.
