This major expansion project includes constructing a new intermodal facility east of the existing intermodal and hump yard facility.
This facility features 20 wide-span cranes that are designed to lift one million containers per year. A key electronic feature is the New Advanced Automated Gate System, which will allow the BNSF to keep track of every container in the yard.
Significant right-of-way acquisition, platting, street vacations, utilities vacation, construction phasing, permitting, and coordination with the City and State were needed to keep this project on track because it was constructed on a previously developed location in Memphis.
