Wilson & Company is assisting the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Innovative Contracting Program to write a Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) procedural manual to support CDOT personnel and industry partners on future CMGC projects.
CMGC is a project delivery method that involves the contractor in a collaborative design process to provide innovation, manage project risks, improve constructability, and prepare construction cost estimates that meet the project budget.
The CMGC manual provides:
- An understanding of the contracting and project management procedures that are unique to the CMGC process
- Step-by-step instructions that guide CDOT managers through the CMGC process from project startup, through procurement, design development, preconstruction, and construction phases
Wilson & Company is also preparing a Streamlined Design-Build (SDB) manual through CDOT’s Innovative Contracting Program. SDB uses a one-step selection process that reduces the procurement schedule and inspires innovation that is inherent in design-build project delivery.
The SDB manual will provide:
- An overview of the process with guidelines for the appropriate use of SDB
- Templates for the Invitation to Bid (ITP), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Technical Requirements
