Colorado Springs Metro Interstate Expansion (COSMIX) - Colorado Springs, CO

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Region 2 was faced with the challenge of rebuilding I-25, a 45-year-old urban interstate expected to handle 185,000 vehicles a day by 2025.

Through the goal-based design-build process, COSMIX was completed nearly a full year ahead of schedule while maintaining the flow of traffic on the facility throughout construction. The resulting project upgraded the I-25 corridor through Colorado Springs to 12 miles of six-lane highway including the complete reconstruction of two major interchange complexes and 17 new bridges.
