Lordsburg Water Improvements Phase 1

In 2019, Wilson & Company began working with the City of Lordsburg in pursuing funding for the planning, design, and construction of various water system improvements. Wilson & Company assisted the City in the pursuit of both New Mexico Capital Outlay and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) funding. A Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) for water system improvements was prepared in accordance with USDA Bulletin 1780-2 and submitted to both the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and USDA for approval and funding. The City was awarded $1M in a Capital Outlay grant and approximately $5M from USDA-RD with a total funding breakdown of 74% being grant and 26% loan.

The project which is currently in the data collection phase will address the need to reduce water waste, reduce operation & maintenance expenses, provide water source resiliency, and increase the overall system reliability. The improvements include system optimization, back-up power source installation, water source rehabilitation, replacement of transmission lines, and the replacement of deteriorated distribution lines and appurtenances.
