This $175 million transportation project for the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) consists of six miles of new arterial roadway including a new interchange with I-15, and additional bridge structures over the Jordan River and the Union Pacific Railroad. Once completed, it will provide a vital new east-west connection from American Fork to Lehi to Saratoga Springs. In a joint venture with Kiewit/Clyde contractors, Wilson & Company (as a subconsultant to Parsons Transportation Group) provided project-wide traffic operations analysis and microsimulation modeling for final design and construction activities; signing and striping; signal and lighting design; signal timing plans; freeway guide signing plan, sign structure design, and panel design for the six-mile Pioneer Crossing corridor and the two-mile I-15 corridor. Wilson & Company played a pivotal role in the selection of the Kiewit/Clyde team by proposing a diverging diamond interchange (DDI) during the “best value” selection. The DDI, which resulted in a project cost savings of $15 million, provides a higher quality project, and will be the first its kind constructed in the United States led by a consultant-led design team.
