Tesoro Crude Oil Unit Train Unloading Facility - Anacortes, WA

This $55 million unit train unloading facility was designed to unload crude oil from a unit train for refining at the Tesoro refinery at Anacortes, Washington.  Built near a federally protected bay, significant precautions were designed into the facility to provide spill protection and stormwater control and retention.

Wilson & Company formed a multi-disciplined team for the development, design, and construction of this facility, which has the capability of unloading two, 100-car unit trains per 24-hour period.

The facility includes:

  • (4)  25-car ladder tracks
  • (2) 100-car storage tracks
  • Rail car wash track
  • Pumping facilities including pumps, piping, valves, actuators, and air compressors
  • Track related elements including sub ballast, ballast, ties, track, and mainline switches provided by BNSF Railway Company
