Tom Melton Earns National Design-Build Certification

Wilson & Company’s Alternative Delivery Program Manager Joined a Growing National Industry of Design-Build Professionals Redefining Project Delivery

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – February 27, 2019 – Tom Melton, PE, DBIA, Alternative Delivery Program Manager with Wilson & Company, Engineers & Architects, Inc. has successfully completed the Design-Build Institute of America’s comprehensive education and certification testing program to achieve the design-build industry’s highest designation as a nationally certified Design-Build Professional.™ Tom has demonstrated his expertise with 20 years of Design-Build experience and 38 total years of experience in engineering.

“Obtaining the certification requires extensive experience in design build, completing course work and passing an examination,” said Wilson & Company’s Vice President Mark Scholfield, PE. “It is more and more often becoming an important qualification to have when being considered for design-build work, especially with regard to DB program management for owners. Design-build is now a significant portion of the transportation market place that Wilson & Company competes in, and having another DBIA professional in our ranks adds to our marketability in this method of project delivery.”

According to the June 2018 Design-Build Utilization report, design-build methods will represent 44% of construction put-in-place spending across many market segments by 2021. That would be a spending increase of 18% between 2018 and 2021 on DB from $274 billion to $324 billion. As the design-build delivery method grows, developing certified, experienced design-build professionals will continue to be a priority for Wilson & Company.
