We have been committed to helping this region grow and sustain its infrastructure, and, after recently opening a permanent office in Springfield, Missouri, we are established.
The office is staffed by local engineers, surveyors, and construction inspectors who know this region because it’s where they work and live; a home base for a team that serves communities across the Ozarks region.
Our story: from a temporary stay to a permanent home in Springfield
Our new permanent Springfield office reflects our growing work and strong relationships in the region. Justin Klaudt, PE, ENV SP, Senior Vice President and Midwest Regional Manager, marked the milestone at an open house with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
“For the last couple of years, we’ve been operating out of temporary offices,” Klaudt said. “This marks something different. This is a home in Springfield, a permanent home in Springfield. It represents our long-term commitment to the region, to our clients, the relationships we’ve built, and our future growth.”
Wilson & Company also joined the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce as part of this commitment, connecting with the broader business community and signaling an intent to grow alongside it.
Engineering services for southwest Missouri
The Springfield office serves as the local point of contact for a range of public infrastructure work across the region. Wilson & Company is prequalified for engineering services in several communities, including Greene County, Christian County, the City of Joplin, and many more. Our Springfield office is working on several bridge, road, and trail projects throughout the area and holds the on-call professional engineering and land surveying contract for the City of Ozark, providing the steady, day-to-day technical support that keeps a city functioning.

Serving southwest Missouri through regional transportation planning
Wilson & Company’s reach in this region extends well beyond Springfield’s city limits. We are working with the Southwest Missouri Council of Governments (SMCOG), providing planning services on a Regional Transportation Safety Action Plan funded through the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. SMCOG serves as the federally designated Economic Development District for southwest Missouri, with jurisdiction over ten counties, including Greene, Christian, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney, Barry, Dade, Dallas, and Webster.
The SS4A plan will identify targeted strategies to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries across the entire ten-county area, bringing federal resources and data-driven planning to rural and suburban communities that often lack dedicated transportation safety staff.
Nearby, Wilson & Company delivered the Osage Beach Safety Action Plan for the City of Osage Beach, extending the firm’s local expertise into the quickly growing Lake of the Ozarks area. This plan addresses the unique transportation safety challenges of this resort community, which is experiencing rapid growth in tourist and seasonal traffic. Osage Beach experiences extreme seasonal traffic variation between peak summer tourism periods and quieter off-season conditions, requiring a safety analysis approach that accounts for different crash patterns and volumes associated with the community’s seasonal economy.
Missouri infrastructure: from Springfield to I-44 and beyond
Wilson & Company has deepened its Missouri portfolio by adding strategic locations across the state. With offices now in Kansas City, Springfield, and a project office in St. Louis, the firm has become what Klaudt describes as “a real Missouri firm.”
That approach shows up in our work. The team supports the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) as the owner’s representative on the Interstate 44 expansion, one of the state’s significant highway improvement efforts. Work at that scale demands technical depth, coordination across multiple agencies, and professionals who understand the specifics of the Southwestern Missouri transportation landscape.
Dorothy Halbrook, PE, a transportation engineer on the Springfield team, brings that perspective directly to the region’s infrastructure challenges. “Working on a project like I-44 means understanding how freight, commuters, and rural communities all depend on the same corridor,” Halbrook says. “Being based in Springfield puts us closer to the work and the people it affects.”
