Big Improvements for Local Communities: Wilson & Company’s Las Cruces team expands to serve Southern New Mexico

Big improvements aren’t just happening in our southern New Mexico communities; they’re happening within Wilson & Company, too. This year, our Las Cruces team moved into a new office space, creating more room, showcasing a modern design, and providing a convenient central location to collaborate with our valued clients, partners, and communities throughout Southern New Mexico. This expansion marks a major milestone in demonstrating our growth and continued commitment to our clients and the communities we serve.

The Multigenerational Facility in the City of Sunland Park provides community and recreational space.

Wilson & Company’s Senior Vice President and Southwest Regional Manager, Edward Cordova, reflects on the company’s beginnings in the area, “We started our Las Cruces office 11 years ago with just a couple of individuals and have grown to include 35 technical experts. This growth enables us to better serve the needs of our clients across the region.”

A diverse workforce of multidisciplinary professionals, the Las Cruces team comprises environmental professionals; civil, water/wastewater, and structural engineers; surveyors; and construction administration professionals. This wide-ranging expertise enables us to deliver everything from a single aspect of a project’s needs to turnkey solutions.

Christie Soulsby, a civil practice lead who has worked in Las Cruces for nearly 10 years, notes our capability, “The Las Cruces team stands out in its service to local communities through our well-rounded expertise and ability to provide comprehensive support in nearly any capacity, from roadway design and drainage improvements to hydrologic and hydraulic studies. All aspects of design are completed in-house by the same dedicated team, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and a seamless approach throughout every phase of the project.”

Backed by our team of professionals located around the country, the Las Cruces team operates with a local focus to positively impact the region. With long-standing clients including Doña Ana County, Anthony, Lincoln Park, and Otero County, we have a history of making significant impacts in small communities. Recently, our work on the City of Sunland Park’s Multigenerational Facility has helped provide community and recreational space, increasing the quality of life for its residents and community. “Being locally based gives our team valuable firsthand insight into potential infrastructure challenges within the community,” said Soulsby, “We regularly observe these conditions both in town and throughout the southern regions of the state, allowing us to respond quickly and conduct site visits whenever needed. Our ongoing work with several counties and communities across southern and central New Mexico has helped us build strong relationships with project owners, who view us as trusted advisors and partners.” Our staff understands the needs of these communities, enabling us to deliver the client’s vision while balancing local values.

However, local solutions can sometimes have benefits that extend beyond their region. Cordova frames the area’s impact on the broader international context: “Southern New Mexico has seen significant growth over the last several years. The Borderplex Region, comprising Las Cruces, El Paso, and Juarez, has a population of over 3 million people. International trade along the border has allowed us to work on major infrastructure projects such as the Union Pacific Strauss Yard, New Mexico Weigh and Inspection Station, Columbus Land Port of Entry Drainage Improvements, and the Doña Ana County Industrial Road Grade Separation.” The benefits of these projects include economic revitalization, as well as improvements in trade and commerce, which impact both the local and national economies.

The new office brings potential for the Las Cruces team. We look forward to gathering with more experts who are ready and eager to serve the region’s communities. This office is a tangible representation of Wilson & Company’s purpose: we bring people together to practice their craft, to create value, and to accomplish great things. It is a commitment to building Higher Relationships in local communities. We look forward to continuing to build stronger communities, one project and one partnership at a time.
