Platte Avenue Bridge Replacement above Sand Creek

The Platte Avenue over Sand Creek Bridge Replacement Project focused on improving safety and mobility for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists in Colorado Springs, CO. This project involved the removal of two structures, the east and westbound bridges built in 1956. These were replaced with a new structure. The new bridge accounts for future traffic in the rapidly growing region of Colorado Springs and includes new sidewalks.

The project also involved the construction of a pedestrian and bicycle trail crossing, which will connect to the future Sand Creek Regional Trail below. Design took place from 2017-2019, and construction began in 2020. Wilson & Company provided construction management, inspection, and materials testing services on this project. The City of Colorado Springs celebrated the project’s completion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in September 2022.
